The Truth About Unions

“If you ask, ‘Who’s the most likely to take this republic down?’ It would be the teachers’ unions, and the filth that they’re teaching our kids, and the fact that they don’t know math and reading or writing.”
- Mike Pompeo

“Throughout my 28 years as a teacher forced to fund unions, and two decades as a parent with children in union controlled public schools, I have witnessed union forces bully and intimidate teachers, parents, and children, and work overtime to create a culture of fear,” she writes in Standing Up To Goliath. “I’ve watched as union leaders have drowned out debate at school board meetings, shouted down teachers and parents who voiced independent opinions, and used intimidation tactics to bring down anyone who refused to be controlled by unions.”

  • Almost EVERY state has a NEA Affiliate? Money goes from almost every state to the National Educators Association, NEA.  Even if you live in a non-union state, the union is still receiving money from teachers in your state.
  • The PTA is affiliated with the Unions. The following quote was from Rebecca Friedrichs book Standing Up to Goliath.  The quote was exposed by Charlene Harr’s in depth study of the National PTA.

“The PTA has credibility.  That is why we always us the PTA as a front.”  Kim Moran, a former director at the American Federation of Teachers.

Teaching Certification Pathways - Nontraditional

Radical ideologies and pedagogies have made their way into America’s teaching colleges. Teaching licensure requirements need to be reformed to allow teachers to focus on becoming subject matter experts on the content they have chosen to teach as opposed to focusing solely on learning teaching pedagogies. America's teaching colleges for decades have focused on teaching future teachers how to teach using woke pedagogies.

‌The National Association of Scholars has created model legislation that states can adopt to modify for their state which would provide these nontraditional teaching certification pathways.

General Description of the Model Licensure Code:

Details of each Act:
The National Association of Scholars in conjunction with several other organizations has crafted 3 model bills which can be taken to your state legislators to fine tune for your state.

Teachers for Educational Freedom

At Freedom in Education, we are proud to have a team of dedicated educators who wholeheartedly support the concept of educational freedom, sometimes referred to as "school choice". Our coalition of teachers and educators firmly believe that every student deserves the opportunity to access a quality education that aligns with their individual strengths, passions, and learning styles. In addition to the multitude of benefits choice provides students, our coalition is intentional in educating the teaching community on how educational freedom positively impacts their profession.

How School Choice Benefits All:

Increased Autonomy

School choice policies lead to the establishment of more independent and autonomous schools, where teachers often have greater freedom in curriculum design, teaching methods, and decision-making. This autonomy can create a more empowering and fulfilling work environment for teachers.

Diverse Teaching Environments

School choice provides teachers with opportunities to work in a variety of educational settings, including traditional public schools, charter schools, magnet schools, private schools, and so on. This diversity can attract teachers who have a preference for specific teaching philosophies or educational approaches.

Competitive Salaries and Benefits

With increased competition among schools, retaining talented teachers becomes a greater focus for schools and districts. As a result, schools may offer competitive salaries, benefits, and professional development opportunities to recruit and retain high-quality educators.

Innovation and Professional Growth

In a school choice environment, educators are encouraged to explore innovative teaching methods and practices to differentiate their schools from others. This emphasis on innovation can lead to professional growth and development for teachers, as they continuously strive to improve their teaching strategies.

Stronger Teacher-Parent Relationships

School choice often involves more active parental involvement in the education decision-making process. When parents have the option to choose their children's school, they are likely to be more invested in their child's education, leading to stronger partnerships between teachers and parents.

Supportive School Cultures

Schools that compete for students are more likely to prioritize creating supportive and positive school cultures. This can lead to a healthier and more enjoyable work environment for teachers, fostering collaboration and a sense of community.

Smaller Class Sizes

Many school choice models, such as private and charter schools, may have smaller class sizes due to a more manageable student population. Smaller class sizes can improve teacher-student interactions and allow for more individualized instruction.
